Pechersk
is an old aristocratic part of Kiev. At first an upper south-eastern district
from Khreschtik street had been called Klov because of the name of a stream.
Some time later this part of the city was named Lipki because of a cosy
lime grove nearby (small limes in Ukranian are called lipki). Later Russian
tsaritsa – queen - Elisabeth chose this place for building her Kiev residence.
Because of the nearness to the tsar residence Lipki has become an aristocratic
district of the city.
During the tour you will observe Mariinskiy Palace, “Chocolate” House,
National Philharmonic House, Klovskiy Palace and will hear a lot of interesting
